In 1996, four grant-making organizations namely Open Society Foundation, Foundation for a Civil Society, Civil Society Development Foundation and Sasakawa Peace Foundation initiated the creation of an informal platform Slovak Donors´ Forum (SDF). The main reason for its formation was organizations´ need for exchange of information about their respective activities, and looking for enhancement possibilities of Slovak non-profit sector.
SDF is the association of the donor leaders in Slovakia ; its members respect the Ethical Principles that enshrines fundamental ethical principles and values and thereby contribute to the enhancement of culture of giving. SDF was officially registered as the Interest Association of Legal Entities in 2000.
In 2006 the Club of Corporate Donors was formed by SDF as an association of companies that do business in the Slovak Republic and corporate philanthropy is integral part of their entrepreneurship. All members of the Club are experienced in transparent and strategic giving.

Priorities
- Creation of a platform for exchange of experience, knowledge and share of best practices among SDF members.
- Enhancement of donors´ mutual communication and cooperation.
- Implementation of activities that positively influence donors' transparency and credibility.
- Initiation of closer cooperation with the supporters of non-profit sector and enhance cross-sector communication and cooperation.
- Cooperation with media in order to achieve respect and acknowledgement of donors´ by broader public.
- Organizing events that will contribute to reinforcement of tradition of philanthropy in Slovakia.
- Conduct analyses of environment and advocate for improvements of the NGO legislative.
- Promotion of members and their activities.
- Active cooperation with organizations pursuing similar activities abroad.
